Beautiful family, beautiful kids, beautiful bluebonnets

May 13, 2011

I had the pleasure of spending time in Garland, TX a couple of weeks ago with a good friend and her family. Other than enjoying time with my friend, a main goal of the trip was to photograph her family in the bluebonnets. If you don’t know about bluebonnets (and living in Virginia, well, we don’t see bluebonnets here), they are the Texas wildflower. There are fields of them along roads and highways. That being said, it took some driving around (the day before the photo session) before we discovered a great location.

This was the “winning” location

Aren’t they beautiful?!

We returned the next evening with my friend and her family. Another family met us soon after, with their two pretty daughters. So, beautiful location, beautiful family, and beautiful kids – what a beautiful combination! (Yes, I’m using the word beautiful a lot, but really, it was all beautiful and I loved every minute).

It’s hard to decide what to share, and this might be a bit too much, but I’m sure you’ll agree that these are wonderful.

One of the first shots, totally adore this one

The sun was starting to set, so we went to the top of the hill to finish the session. The kids got there first, and I got this great silhouette shot of the two younger kids waiting at the top.

I love how the sunset’s colors impact this photo, it was such a gorgeous night

One of my goals was to get a couple of silhouette jumping shots. The two older girls are cheerleaders, and I asked that they bring their uniforms and pom poms, just to get this capture. Just a thrilling shot!

Did I mention the moon was full? I just love the moon, so I had to capture it while I was there. Is the moon bigger in Texas? Not sure, but it does look great!

And a parting shot of our great bluebonnet field as we departed after it was all over

These are AWESOME, Gwen! Sure wish Dallas wasn’t so far from here so I could have met up w/ you guys. Color me jealous. I also can’t believe how big Miss K has gotten. She looks more like her beautiful momma than ever before. :+) TFS!
